New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm fast bowler is in exceptional form in T20 internationals. Following his impressive performances in T20Is, he has earned a spot in India's ODI squad for the upcoming series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy. Arshdeep is just two wickets shy of reaching 100 wickets in T20Is. He will be in action today during the third T20I against England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Upon reaching this milestone, Arshdeep will become the first-ever Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in T20Is and will be the 21st bowler overall in this format.

With only two wickets needed to achieve this significant milestone, Arshdeep is set to surpass Pakistan's Haris Rauf. Rauf reached the 100-wicket mark in 71 T20Is, while Arshdeep has already taken 98 wickets in just 62 matches. Even if he doesn’t achieve this feat in the third T20I, the 25-year-old is certain to reach his century of wickets in the ongoing series, with three more matches left to play, making him the fastest to reach this milestone compared to Rauf.

If Arshdeep claims two wickets in Rajkot, he will join Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga as the third-fastest player to reach 100 wickets in T20Is. Rashid Khan of Afghanistan holds the record as the fastest to this milestone, followed by Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane. In the current series, Arshdeep has been outstanding with the ball, picking up three wickets across two T20Is. In both matches, he made early breakthroughs by dismissing England's openers, including twice getting Phil Salt and once sending back Ben Duckett. Overall, the left-arm pacer has conceded only 57 runs in eight overs, averaging 19 with an economy rate of 7.12. Arshdeep will be eager to reach his 100-wicket milestone in the third T20I by claiming at least two wickets.
