Wednesday to be a government holiday in punjab, official notification released

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab government has declared a public holiday across the state on February 12, Wednesday, to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji in 2025. On this occasion, all government and non-government educational institutions will remain closed.

As part of the celebrations, a Shobha Yatra procession will take place in Jalandhar on February 11. To maintain public order and respect religious sentiments, the district administration has also issued an order to close meat and liquor shops on both February 11 and 12. District Magistrate Dr. Himanshu Agarwal explained that, in light of the Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji and the procession, meat and liquor sales will be prohibited along the route of the Shobha Yatra and at religious function locations within Jalandhar district. This measure is being implemented under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023, to ensure the peaceful observance of the religious event.
