Two held in Ferozepur for illegal weapons, police recover firearms and ammunition

Ferozepur (The Uttam Hindu): In a decisive move against criminal elements, the CIA staff team of Ferozepur District Police apprehended two suspects, recovering a total of six illegal pistols and 17 live rounds.


The accused, Mohit Gill (23) from Rampura and Jashan alias Teji (18) from Bag Wali Basti, have been charged under Case No. 397, dated 07-11-2024, under Section 25 of the Arms Act, registered at Ferozepur City Police Station.


Senior Superintendent of Police, Soumya Mishra, stated that district police remain steadfast in their mission to eradicate crime. She emphasized that stringent measures are being taken to prevent criminal activities, with special teams operating under senior officers’ oversight across the district. Their recent efforts led to the recovery of four .30-caliber pistols with magazines, two .32-caliber pistols with magazines, and 17 live rounds.


Notably, accused Mohit Gill has a history of 8 criminal cases, including attempted murder, firearm offeemphasisednses, and other charges. Police are continuing their investigation to uncover any further illegal activities connected to the suspects.


SSP said the Ferozepur police are intensifying their crackdown on repeat offenders and are committed to dismantling criminal networks. Recently, intelligence revealed that a known criminal, released from jail roughly 20 days ago, was attempting to re-engage in illegal activities, including acquiring weapons from other states.


Acting on this information, the CIA team incharge Mohit Dhawan, under the tutelage of Randhir Kumar, SP(I), Sukhwinder Singh, DSP, achieved significant success, apprehending two suspects with firearms and ammunition. Over the past two months, police efforts have resulted in the recovery of 25 pistols and 71 live cartridges, underscoring their commitment to community safety and strict action against crime.
