Tragic Accident Near Phagwara: Two Dead, One Injured After Taxi Crashes
Kapurthala (The Uttam Hindu): A road accident in the Phagwara subdivision of Kapurthala claimed two lives, including a youth who had returned from Australia after 10 years. The two deceased were identified as Dilpreet Singh, who hailed from Ludhiana, and the taxi driver from Amritsar. Dilpreet's mother, Gurinder Kaur, was severely injured in the accident.
The accident happened on the Phagwara highway when the family was traveling from Amritsar Airport to Ludhiana. According to reports, the taxi traveling at a high speed was trying to overtake a tractor-trolley laden with sugarcane but instead collided with it. The intensity of the collision caused the taxi to lose control and skid into a truck. Dilpreet Singh who had just returned from Melbourne, Australia, died immediately. The taxi driver could not be saved at the Civil Hospital. Gurinder Kaur was grievously injured and initially treated at the Phagwara Civil Hospital and later shifted to DMC Ludhiana.
The City Police have lodged an FIR and initiated an investigation as of now after taking a complaint from the father of the victim Harpreet Singh. His son, Dilpreet, had been staying in Australia for the last 10 years, but he has come with his mother and is here to settle forever. The incident took place close to the flyover of the GT Road of Phagwara when the taxi collided with a tractor-trolley. The police have confiscated the tractor-trolley and further investigation is under way.
