Speakers on Tractors and Trucks Banned During Hola-Muhalla
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): There is a complete ban on the use of speakers on tractors and trucks for Hola-Mohalla in Kiratpur Sahib and Anandpur Sahib in Punjab from March 10 to 15.
This information was given by Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana on Sunday. He said that the police administration of all the districts of the state has already been informed that they should instruct the representatives of truck unions and panchayats through the head officers and traffic incharges of the police stations under their respective districts/units that no double-decker truck/vehicle, tractor-trolley with big speakers, motorcycles with pressure horns and motorcyclists without silencers should come to Anandpur Sahib and Kiratpur Sahib during Hola-Muhalla.
He said that action will also be taken against those violating traffic rules and law and the speakers causing noise pollution from the vehicles will be removed on the spot and sent ahead. Khurana said that to prevent the trouble caused by the sound of speakers to the Sangat coming from the country and abroad during the Hola-Muhalla fair, it has been decided that no double-decker truck/vehicle with speakers will be allowed to enter Rupnagar district during the fair. He said that in 2023, a Sikh youth died during Hola-Muhalla, the reason for which was only the loud speakers installed on the tractor. For this reason, he appealed to all the Sangats to follow the guidelines and traffic rules issued by the police administration, so that any kind of unpleasant incident can be prevented at any level.
