Shooter's encounter leads to production warrant; shot during weapon recovery

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A few months ago, an Aam Aadmi Party leader was shot dead by unidentified youths riding motorcycles near the railway gate close to Fatehabad village in the Khadur Sahib constituency of Tarn Taran.

While the leader was in his car heading out for personal work, police registered a case regarding the incident and initiated arrests of those involved in the murder of Gopi. For several days, police and CIA teams have been working on this case. Earlier, the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) from Lucknow arrested three shooters, and the Tarn Taran police secured a protection warrant for them. Shooter Bikramjit Singh, also known as Vicky, was under interrogation on police remand.

During a recovery operation in Goindwal Sahib, Vicky opened fire at the police while they were attempting to recover weapons. The police returned fire, resulting in Vicky being injured by a bullet in the leg. He was apprehended and subsequently admitted to the hospital. According to CSP IPS Abhimannio Rana, Vicky has multiple cases filed against him and was wanted in connection with the murder case. He sustained injuries during the exchange of gunfire with the police.
