Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant development regarding the attack on former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Narayan Singh Chohra, who allegedly fired at Badal on December 4 at the Golden Temple, was presented before a court in Amritsar. During the court proceedings, Chohra was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

The police had previously sought multiple remands: 3, 3, 3, and 2 days to investigate the attack further. They had requested additional remand to review CCTV footage and other angles, but the court rejected the request. ACP Jaspal Singh confirmed that the investigation was ongoing, considering all aspects of the case. He assured that any new developments would be shared with the media.

Chohra’s lawyer, however, criticized the police for seeking additional remands, claiming that the police had not made any significant progress in their investigation and were simply making excuses. Despite these arguments, the court decided to send Chohra into judicial custody for 14 days instead of granting the police further custody. The incident, which occurred on December 4 at the Golden Temple, shocked the community. Chohra allegedly attempted to kill Sukhbir Singh Badal during a visit, but police apprehended him at the scene. The authorities are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attack.
