Punjab’s Push for Renewable Energy: Pollution Control Board Adopts Solar Power
Patiala (The Uttam Hindu): Under Prof. (Dr.) Adarsh Pal Vig Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board, many steps have been taken to achieve energy autonomy. Alternative sources of energy are being incorporated by setting up solar power systems on all the buildings of the board.
Today, Dr. Vig visited the Board's main office on Nabha Road in Patiala to inspect the newly installed 60 KWp solar energy system. This installation is part of a broader initiative to set up a total solar capacity of 183 KWp across various board buildings. He was accompanied by several senior officials including Engr. G.S. Majithia (Member Secretary), Engr. Lavneet Dubey (Chief Environment Engineer), Amreek Singh (Senior Law Officer), Engr. Sandeep Kaur (Environmental Engineer), and Mr. Janak Raj (Scientific Officer).
.
During his speech, Dr. Vig emphasized that commercially as well as domestically solar energy systems be adopted as an alternate power source as it follows the trend that was already becoming necessary because of increased dependence on non-conventional sources of energy to overcome conventional sources of energy. This is the need of the hour. With the installation of solar energy systems, one can be self-reliant in the energy sector as well and help the progress of the country," observed Dr Vig.
This act is a part of all efforts made by Punjab, in this direction of sustainability through reducing carbon footprints in which Pollution Control Board goes ahead to make a choice for clean and green energies.
