PSPCL JE Arrested Red-Handed for Accepting ₹10,000 Bribe
Batala (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab Vigilance Department (Vigilance Bureau) has launched a campaign against corruption in the state.
Under the campaign, Junior Engineer (JE) Jarnail Singh posted at the sub-division office of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) at Kotkapura in Faridkot district was arrested red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said on Thursday that the case has been registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by a resident of Kotha Chahal Singh in Faridkot. He said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the above-mentioned JE had demanded twenty thousand rupees in exchange for changing his tubewell connection and installing a domestic electricity meter in the house of his acquaintance. On the request of the complainant, the said JE had agreed to take the bribe amount in two installments.
The spokesperson said that after verification of the complaint, a vigilance team of Ferozepur Range laid a trap during which the said accused was arrested red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. In this regard, a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the said JE at Police Station Ferozepur Range of Vigilance Bureau.
