Police uncover forged land registry scheme in Jalandhar, Punjab; three property dealers arrested

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant operation against organized crime, Jalandhar Rural Police have successfully dismantled a land fraud racket, arresting three individuals involved in an elaborate scheme to fraudulently register 10 acres of valuable land worth around Rs 10 crore.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, the arrests were made following reliable intelligence that led the Phillaur police to apprehend the accused. The suspects were attempting to illegally acquire land in Bahadrak Ba Village Bhatia by using forged Aadhaar cards and land ownership documents. The arrested individuals have been identified as Daljit Singh and Jairam, both property dealers, along with Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Siddhammutsadi. SSP Khakh confirmed that the operation was carried out under the guidance of senior police officials, including Jasroop Kaur Bath, IPS, and Sarwan Singh Bal, PPS, along with the Phillaur police station team.

A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code at PS Phillaur, and the police are continuing their investigation. The suspects are expected to be presented before the court for police remand to explore their possible connections with other criminal activities. The police department emphasized its commitment to combating financial and organized crime, reaffirming a zero-tolerance approach toward such illegal activities in the region.
