Ferozepur (The Uttam Hindu): The agriculture department has seized unlicensed fertilizers stored in a godown owned by Puneet Bansal, proprietor of Aggarwal Khad Store in Rikhi Colony, Ferozepur. Following the recovery, authorities registered a case against Bansal after discovering an unauthorized stockpile of fertilizers in his godown.

This comes just a week after the suspension of the Chief Agriculture Officer, District Manager, and FSO of Markfed, who were implicated in hiding stocks of DAP fertilizer despite the ongoing demand from farmers. During a recent inspection, officials uncovered 997 bags of urea and 890 bags of potash fertilizer from various manufacturers. Bansal was unable to provide the necessary licenses or bills for the stored fertilizers, leading officials to file a case against him.

Baldev Singh has been appointed as the Investigating Officer for the case. No arrests have been made as of yet. Bansal has been charged under Section 4 of the Fertilizer (Control) Order of 1985 and Section 3(2)7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
