Nephew kills uncle in Punjab: A shocking and unbelievable motive behind the murder
Nurpurbedi (The Uttam Hindu): In a shocking incident in the village of Keema Bas, under the jurisdiction of Nurpurbedi police station, a nephew allegedly killed his uncle after a dispute over alcohol. The incident took place on November 9, when Lakhwinder Singh, also known as Lucky, attacked his uncle Roshan Lal with a sword after being stopped from drinking alcohol. Roshan Lal later succumbed to his injuries.
According to the police, a case of murder has been registered against Lakhwinder Singh, his mother Nachhatar Kaur, and his sister Amarjit Kaur, who are currently absconding. The complaint was filed by the deceased's daughter, Harjeet Kaur, who explained the chain of events in her statement to the police. Harjeet Kaur, who had arrived in the village of Keema Bas on November 8 to attend the marriage of her uncle Bhagat Ram's grandchildren, was with her father and other family members at home on the night of the incident. Around 11 pm, Lakhwinder Singh appeared outside their house, visibly drunk and shouting abuse. He was armed with a kirpan, and was accompanied by his mother and sister, who also started abusing the family.
When Harjeet Kaur’s father, Roshan Lal, went outside to investigate, Lakhwinder Singh attacked him with the kirpan, injuring his right hand. The attack escalated as the trio began throwing stones at him, injuring Harjeet Kaur in the process. The assailants then fled the scene, threatening to kill them. Harjeet Kaur later told the police that the motive for the attack was Lakhwinder Singh's addiction to alcohol, which Roshan Lal often tried to stop. This long-standing conflict over his drinking habits allegedly led to the fatal attack. Inspector Gurwinder Singh Dhillon, head of Nurpurbedi Police Station, confirmed that a murder case has been filed against Lakhwinder Singh, Nachhatar Kaur, and Amarjit Kaur, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.
