Details of the Case Against Akali Leaders

According to the case, Parvinder Singh Sohana and Mandeep Singh, along with other unknown individuals, gathered in the Kumbra village area and misled the public. They stirred up emotions and caused chaos by leading a protest on the main road, severely disrupting traffic and risking public safety. The protest could have potentially led to both physical and financial harm to the people. This act was deemed illegal, and Sohana, along with Mandeep Singh and others, was accused under Section 285 BNS.

Shiromani Akali Dal's Strong Denouncement of the Case

Shiromani Akali Dal has strongly condemned the police complaint. Party spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kaler stated that the charges against them are false. He questioned whether there was an undeclared emergency in Punjab, pointing out that protests have always been a legitimate form of expression. He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for suppressing the voices of opposition leaders who advocate for the public’s rights. He further emphasized that the Constitution permits citizens to protest for their rights, and this action against the Akali Dal leaders is politically motivated. The Akali Dal has announced plans to challenge the case in the High Court, asserting that it is a direct attack on their political standing.
