Update: 2025-01-03 12:05 GMT

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Land prices in several regions of Punjab are expected to double as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) requires an additional 103 kilometers of land for 15 major highway projects in the state. According to sources, work is already underway on 37 projects spanning a total length of 1,344 kilometers across Punjab.

The projects for which land is needed include key highways such as the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, Beas-Dera Baba Nanak, Amritsar, Abohar-Fazilka, Amritsar Bypass, Moga-Bajakhana, Amritsar-Bathinda, South Ludhiana Bypass, Ludhiana-Bathinda, and Ludhiana-Ropar roads.

Once these projects are completed, land prices in these areas are likely to surge. Additionally, Punjab will be directly connected to Indira Gandhi International Airport, providing a seamless travel route. The connectivity via the Delhi-Katra Expressway will offer significant convenience for vehicles coming from Jammu and Kashmir as well as Punjab. This major infrastructure development is also expected to alleviate traffic congestion, offering residents much-needed relief.
