Gangster ransom dispute leads to deadly shooting: Pritpal Singh killed in canada
Tarn Taran (The Uttam Hindu): Pritpal Singh a resident of Nandpur village was tragically killed by gangsters in Brampton Canada. The young man who had recently moved to Canada was shot dead as he started his car to go to work. His elder brother Khushwant Singh was injured in the attack. The news of the incident quickly spread casting a shadow of grief over the village. Khushwant Singh had moved to Canada four years ago and Pritpal Singh 27 had followed in May on a study visa. The two brothers had been living in a rental house owned by a Punjabi family. A few days prior gangsters from Canada had demanded a ransom from the family. When the family refused to comply they abruptly left the house leaving the brothers behind without notice. On the morning of the attack as Khushwant and Pritpal were removing snow from their car before heading to work gunmen in another vehicle opened fire. Pritpal Singh was killed on the spot while Khushwant Singh was injured with a bullet wound to his arm. Upon hearing the news the family was devastated. Sarabjit Singh the father of Pritpal and Khushwant informed his wife Gurbinder Kaur who fainted upon learning of their son's death.
There have been calls to bring Pritpal Singh's body back to India with support sought from the local administration. The family has received condolences from several political figures including Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar Former Minister Adesh Pratap Singh Cairo and Former MLA Harminder Singh Gill. Surinder Singh a relative also mentioned that efforts are underway to arrange for the return of the body to India.
