Committed to Citizen-Centric Governance: Dr. Ravi Bhagat Assumes New Role
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Dr. Ravi Bhagat, a senior IAS officer, today assumed charge as the Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister of Punjab in the presence of senior state government officials. Dr. Ravi Bhagat, a 2006 batch IAS officer, has served in various capacities in the state government including Deputy Commissioner of Faridkot, Amritsar and Ludhiana. He has also served as the CEO of Punjab Urban Development Authority and the Secretary of the Mandi Board.
As the Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr. Bhagat has been instrumental in implementing several innovative and people-centric initiatives, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. His efforts were widely appreciated and he received several national and international awards. Under his leadership, two Guinness World Records were created - one in 2015 when 10,000 students participated in an anti-drug campaign and another in 2018 when 82 patriotic singers sang a song for peace.
After assuming charge, Dr. Bhagat chaired a meeting and stated that his top priority would be to implement the people-friendly and development-oriented policies of the state government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Maan. Dr. Bhagat emphasized that the state government would focus on key areas such as education, health, employment and others. He assured that citizen-centric services would be delivered to the people in a timely and efficient manner.
