In Uttar Pradesh, the government has decided to keep all schools closed for students from nursery to class 8 until January 14, 2025 in order to protect students from the severe winter conditions. This decision affects schools affiliated with various boards, including the UP Board and CBSE. In Lucknow, schools up to class 8 will remain closed until January 11, while online classes will be held for higher grades.
In Delhi, schools have been shut for a 15-day period, from January 1 to January 15 with a tentative reopening planned for January 16. This step is part of efforts to ensure the safety of students amid extreme cold.
Haryana has also announced that all schools will be closed from January 1 to January 15 with plans to reopen on January 16.
In Punjab, the winter break initially extended until January 7 is expected to be followed by further updates on the reopening schedule.
Jammu & Kashmir has implemented winter vacations for younger students with schools scheduled to reopen on February 28.
