Jalandhar's Rachel Gupta makes history as first Indian to win Miss Grand International 2024
Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): A historic milestone has been achieved in India’s pageant and modeling industry as Rachel Gupta, hailing from Punjab, became the first Indian to win the prestigious Miss Grand International title. She was crowned Miss Grand International 2024 by the outgoing titleholder, Luciana Fuster from Peru, during the grand finals held at the MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. The event also saw the crowning of four runners-up: Christine Juliane Opiaza (1st runner-up) from the Philippines, Thae Su Nyein (2nd runner-up) from Myanmar, Safiétou Kabengele (3rd runner-up) from France, and Talita Hartmann (4th runner-up) from Brazil.
Rachel Gupta, who comes from Jalandhar in Punjab, stands at an impressive 5 feet 10 inches tall. She is a professional model, actress, and entrepreneur, fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. A crowd favorite, she previously secured the title of Miss Grand India 2024 at the national finals of the Glamanand Supermodel India 2024 competition on August 11, 2024, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. In addition to the national title, she won four special awards, including Miss Top Model and Best in Rampwalk.
