Big breakthrough for Jalandhar Police : Arrests 2 notorious gansters of Kaushal-Bambiha gang in cross firing, WATCH VIDEO

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): Continuing zero tolerance policy against crime and criminals, the Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Mr. Swapan Sharma on Thursday led a major operation by Jalandhar Commissionerate Police and nabbed two dreaded gangsters of Kaushal-Bambiha gang after cross firing in which both of them were critically injured. “These gangsters were planning major crimes in Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Kapurthala and other districts had already done rekey in this regard but the Commissionerate Police has foiled their nefarious designs”, said the Commissioner of Police. Divulging more details, the Commissioner of Police said that Commissionerate Police Jalandhar had registered FIR 100/24 u/s 25 Arms Act PS Bhargo Camp, Jalandhar. He said that during investigation in this regard the Police had arrested four accused and recovered weapons from them. Mr. Swapan Sharma further said that while tracing the forward and backward linkages, police identified two additional suspects, Rajeshwar Kumar and Deepak Vaid @ Babu, which were arrested on November 5.


The Commissioner of Police during investigation the gangsters admitted that they had hidden a cache of weapons at some place due to which a Police party took them on the spot for recovering additional weapons. However, he said that during this Rajeshwar and Vaid tried to flee from Police protection and opened fire on the party adding that as the Police retaliated, both infamous gangsters were injured in cross firing. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that both the gangsters were involved in multiple heinous crimes and many other criminal activities in many districts of Punjab adding that six weapons have been recovered from gangsters during the entire operation.

The Commissioner of Police said that these gangsters were also providing logistical assistance and supplying weapons to gangs in Punjab and Haryana. He said that numerous FIRs had already been registered against both the accused under Arms Act, NDPS Act, attempt to murder and others adding that further investigation into the case is going on and details will be shared later. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that the Commissionerate Police is fully committed to knock-down the organized crime nexus in the city and no stone will be left unturned for it
