Bajwa Warns Delhi: Kejriwal's Promises Are Deceptive, Cites Punjab's Experience

Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Senior leaders of the Punjab Congress have urged the people of Delhi to be cautious of the deceptive and unfulfilled promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal, today. They particularly highlighted the promise of a ₹2,100 monthly stipend for women in Delhi, warning that a similar commitment made in Punjab three years ago has not been honored.

Addressing the media at Vijay Chowk today, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Partap Singh Bajwa, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Warring, All India Congress Committee (AICC) treasurer Ajay Maken, Delhi Congress president Devinder Yadav, and other senior leaders criticized AAP's governance record.

Bajwa noted that before the Punjab Assembly elections, Kejriwal had pledged to provide ₹1,000 per month to every woman in Punjab. However, despite receiving a decisive mandate and being in power for nearly three years, AAP has failed to fulfill this promise. Bajwa accused Kejriwal of deceiving voters, citing unfulfilled claims like generating ₹20,000 crore annually from sand mining, which resulted in a mere ₹250 crore being collected by the mining department.

The CLP leader demanded that Kejriwal immediately fulfill his commitment by disbursing ₹34,000 crore in overdue payments to nearly one crore women in Punjab. He urged Delhi residents to support the Congress for genuine progress and development, recalling the 15 years of effective governance under the late Sheila Dikshit in Delhi and the transformative decade of UPA rule at the national level.

Bajwa warned that Punjab’s experience under AAP has been marked by deteriorating law and order and stalled progress, leaving people disillusioned. Other leaders present at the press conference included Sardar Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa (Party MP and Rajasthan In-charge), Rana KP Singh (Chairman of the Punjab Congress Campaign Committee), former Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni, Sukhwinder Singh Danny Bandala (secretary AICC, incharge Delhi) and others.
