Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann campaigned for AAP candidate Gurdeep Singh Randhawa in Dera Baba Nanak
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann campaigned for AAP candidate Gurdeep Singh Randhawa in Dera Baba Nanak. Both leaders addressed a large public rally and appealed to the people to support the AAP candidate. Kejriwal and Mann highlighted the work done by the AAP government over the past two and a half years and explained how they have fulfilled their major election promises.
Arvind Kejriwal, urging people to support Gurdeep Randhawa, said, "Two and a half years ago, you gave AAP an historic mandate. Out of 117 seats, you gave us 92, the most in Punjab's history." He continued, "Before the AAP government, people in Punjab were most troubled by high electricity bills. Some people had pending bills of up to 2 lakh rupees. We promised you that we would waive off your old electricity bills and your future bills would be zero. We fulfilled that promise. Now, people's electricity bills are zero."
Kejriwal said, "The BJP governs in nearly 20 states of the country, and other states are governed by different parties. AAP has its government in Punjab and Delhi only, and in both places, people’s electricity bills are zero, and they get 24-hour electricity. In other states, electricity is very expensive."
"We promised you free healthcare. Today, Aam Aadmi Clinics are opening across Punjab. Medicines and tests are free there. We are also improving all government hospitals, and treatment there is free as well. Schools across Punjab are being improved and updated. So far, over 45,000 youth have been given government jobs. In every village in Punjab, about 4 to 5 people have received jobs. No one had to pay money or use influence. Earlier, it was impossible to get a government job without bribes or recommendations."
"We have regularized temporary employees. Now, government employees are not seen on water tanks; they are at their workplaces. Additionally, our government has shut down several toll plazas, saving people lakhs of rupees every day."
Kejriwal said that when Gurdeep Randhawa is elected MLA from Dera Baba Nanak, they will establish the biogas plant and sugar mill in Dera Baba Nanak. The youth will get employment. Playgrounds and stadiums will be built to keep youth healthy and away from drugs. An ITI-Polytechnic college will also be opened.
Kejriwal said, "This election is between Honest Randhawa and Corrupt Randhawa. People are facing so many fake cases in Dera Baba Nanak because of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa." He added that Sukhjinder Randhawa only thinks about his family. That is why his wife is contesting this election. On the other hand, for Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, the people of Dera Baba Nanak are his family. He will work for you. Your issues will be addressed.
*"They (Congress leaders) think politics is a business, unlike them, we are not here for money; we want to serve the people:" CM Mann*
*Mann to people of Dera Baba Nanak: "In a democracy, the people hold all the power. They became arrogant thinking they are bigger than the people. Only you can defeat them and their arrogance."*
*"This is an opportunity to elect an AAP MLA. We have two and a half years; we will work faster and harder for the development of Dera Baba Nanak": Bhagwant Mann*
Addressing the people of Dera Baba Nanak, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann attacked Congress leaders and said that they think politics is a business and that they are powerful.
Mann said that Arvind Kejriwal left his job to serve the people, and they (Mann and Kejriwal) are not in politics for money. They are here to serve the people. He said that AAP is the fastest-growing political party. In just 12 years, we have governments in two states, MLAs in Gujarat, Goa, and J&K, and 13 MPs. Mann said that it’s all because of the people. He emphasized that people hold all the power in a democracy. But traditional politicians think they are bigger than the people. Only the people can defeat them and their arrogance, said Mann.
He stated, "We use public funds to provide facilities to the public. In just two and a half years, we’ve opened over 850 Aam Aadmi Clinics, where more than 2 crore people have received treatment. We are improving the condition of government schools and hospitals. We are establishing a medical college." Attacking Pratap Bajwa for installing toll plazas as PWD minister, Mann said, "We have shut down 16 toll plazas, saving people nearly 62 lakh rupees every day."
Mann said that during the 2022 assembly elections, the people of Dera Baba Nanak voted for Sukhjinder Randhawa, but as usual, he did nothing for the constituency. Now, after two and a half years, the people have another opportunity. Now vote for the AAP candidate, and we will work at double speed for the development of Dera Baba Nanak constituency. He said that they only registered fake cases against people, but now you have a chance to defeat those corrupt looters.
Mann said that traditional politicians think they are bigger than the people and have become arrogant. He urged the people to shatter their arrogance. He said, "Elect one of your own, not the people who live in palatial palaces." Mann added that they need the support of the people to end the drug problem in Punjab. He asked people to immediately report anyone they know who is smuggling drugs.
Mann said, "Someone asked me about the postponement of the election. I told them that previously, opposition parties would have lost by 20-25 thousand votes, but now they will lose by 30-35 thousand votes." He urged the people to vote for the AAP candidate, promising, "There will be no shortage of funds for the development of Dera Baba Nanak. Your demand, Gurdeep Randhawa's letter, and my signature will ensure this."
