Amritpal Petition: Central Government Submits Reply
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab Haryana High Court on Tuesday heard the petition of Khandoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh demanding to attend the Parliament session, in which the Central Government filed its reply.
The central government said in its reply that a committee has been formed to look into the leave applications of all the absent Lok Sabha members including Amritpal Singh. Now the committee will investigate all these cases. Amritpal Singh's lawyer RS Bains could not appear due to illness. The High Court has adjourned the hearing of the case till next week.
It is worth noting that Amritpal Singh has filed a petition in the High Court requesting permission to attend the Lok Sabha session. Amritpal said in the petition that if he does not attend the Lok Sabha session for 60 consecutive days, his Lok Sabha membership can be cancelled. The Lok Sabha Secretary has written a letter to Amritpal saying that he has been absent from the Lok Sabha for 46 days so far.
