AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang Raises Issue of Bandi Sikhs in Parliament
New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, raised the issue of Bandi Sikhs in Parliament, urging the government to release them. He stated that these individuals have already served their sentences and have been in jail for 25 to 30 years. Despite a government notification issued in 2019 promising their release, they continue to remain imprisoned.
Kang highlighted that the matter is linked to human rights and called on the government to fulfill its commitment. He also reminded Parliament that similar promises were made by the central government in 2010.
Meanwhile, protests demanding the release of Bandi Sikhs continue in Mohali’s YPS Chowk. Protesters argue that keeping them in prison despite completing their sentences is a violation of their rights and are urging immediate action from the authorities.
