Update: 2025-01-04 06:16 GMT

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A weather alert has been issued for 12 districts in Punjab today, warning of dense fog along with a storm and the possibility of rain. The meteorological department has reported that visibility has dropped to as low as 10 meters in several areas due to the thick fog which may cause disruptions in traffic.

According to official sources, thunderstorms and rain are likely to occur on January 5-6 with strong winds blowing at speeds of 50-60 kilometers per hour. The fog has already impacted flight operations at Amritsar Airport, leading to the cancellation of several flights. Notably, a flight arriving from Bangladesh was diverted to Lucknow due to the reduced visibility.

The meteorological department has advised people to stay vigilant, warning that the changing weather could lead to disruptions in road and rail traffic. Travelers are urged to take necessary precautions as the weather conditions may continue to affect transportation.
