AAP's 'Chhoti Sarkar' Initiative: House Tax Relief for These Delhi Residents

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): On Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made several major announcements for the people of Delhi through their "Chhoti Sarkar" initiative. The party introduced various discounts on property tax to benefit residents. During a press conference, AAP leader Durgesh Pathak shared details of the new measures. He announced that property tax for homes ranging from 100 to 500 square yards would be halved for the current financial year. Additionally, residents in residential areas will see their house tax completely waived, and those living in 1,300 apartments will receive a 25% discount if they pay their taxes on time.

Pathak explained, "Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal ji, all the councillors have decided that many residents in Delhi have pending house taxes for the last 10-15 years. They have been subjected to blackmail by officers, with the money collected from them not going to the MCD but being diverted towards corruption. To address this, we have made a major decision: if you pay your house tax for the last year, we will waive all your old dues. By paying the tax for the 2024-25 financial year, your previous tax will be completely waived."

He further added, "In the 2025-26 financial year, property tax for homes under 100 square yards will be fully waived. For homes ranging from 100 to 500 square yards, the tax will be halved. Shops operating in residential areas have been facing high taxes and harassment, so their house tax for the 2025-26 session will be completely waived. Also, apartment owners in 1,300 buildings who have not benefited from any house tax schemes will now receive a 25% discount if they pay their taxes on time. This is a significant decision, and we are encouraging people to pay their house tax."
