Rising Lifestyle Disorders Among Women in India: Study Finds Three in Five Women at Risk of Anaemia
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A recent study by diagnostic company Redcliffe Labs has highlighted the increasing prevalence of lifestyle disorders among women in India, with three out of five women at risk of anaemia. The two-year study, based on health data from over one million women, revealed that anaemia and thyroid disorders are among the most common health issues faced by women.
The study also uncovered a gender disparity, with women being three times more susceptible to anaemia compared to men. One in five women is at risk of thyroid disorders, which can cause fatigue, metabolic problems, and hormonal imbalances. If left untreated, anaemia can lead to chronic fatigue and a weakened immune system, while lifestyle-related conditions like diabetes and lipid imbalances may contribute to more severe health complications.
The report also noted that one in every two individuals is affected by lifestyle disorders, with 52 percent of them being female and 48 percent male. Aditya Kandoi, CEO and founder of Redcliffe Labs, expressed concern over the rising incidence of these disorders and stressed the importance of timely health screenings and preventive care. He pointed out that women often prioritize their families' health over their own, but regular checkups and small lifestyle changes can prevent long-term health issues. “Awareness, early diagnosis, and proactive steps today can lead to a healthier future,” Kandoi concluded.
