Shocking: 11 Devotees Collapse with Heart Attack at Maha Kumbh

Prayagraj (The Uttam Hindu): At least 11 devotees have suffered heart attacks following their holy dips at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj over the past two days. Six patients were taken to the central hospital at Parade Ground, while five others were11 Devotees Collapse with Heart Attacks at Maha Kumbhadmitted to the Sector-20 Sub Center Hospital. Nine have since been discharged, while two critical patients were referred to SRN Hospital.

Doctors are urging devotees to take precautions due to the cold weather, dense fog, and chilly waters of the Ganga, which may trigger heart-related issues. The ICU at the central hospital, set up for the Mela, was reportedly full on Sunday due to heart attack cases.

Three heart attack cases were reported on Sunday. Santdas, 43, from Madhya Pradesh, collapsed after breakfast and was referred to another hospital after his condition worsened. Gopal Singh, 43, from Bihar, experienced chest pain and was diagnosed with cardiac shock but is now stable. Shyam Lal Chandrani, 65, from Gwalior, collapsed after chest pain while walking in the Mela area; his condition is also stable.

Doctors are advising devotees to seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms such as chest pain, pressure, or difficulty breathing, as these may be signs of a heart attack.
