Sam Pitroda alleges cyberattacks on his devices, hackers demand cryptocurrency ransom to avoid reputation damage
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Sam Pitroda, the President of the Indian Overseas Congress, has made serious allegations regarding cyberattacks. On Saturday, he claimed that his server had been repeatedly hacked in recent weeks. Pitroda said that his laptop, smartphone, and server were tampered with, and the hackers demanded a ransom in cryptocurrency, threatening to tarnish his reputation and spread misinformation if the payment was not made.
Pitroda further cautioned that if anyone receives an email or message from an unknown source about him, they should avoid opening it, clicking any links, or downloading any attachments as they might contain malware that could compromise their devices.
He assured that he is currently traveling but intends to take immediate action upon returning to Chicago. This includes replacing old hardware, upgrading software, and implementing stronger security measures for his digital presence.
