Bhubaneswar (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India's vast potential for live concerts, pointing to the tremendous success of Coldplay's performances in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Addressing the Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 in Bhubaneswar, PM Modi encouraged both state and private sectors to focus on improving infrastructure and skills to harness this potential. "Recently, you must have seen the incredible images from the Coldplay concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This showcases how much opportunity India has for live concerts," said Prime Minister Modi.

He further noted that India is increasingly attracting major global artists, and the concert economy is driving tourism and creating substantial employment opportunities. "I urge states and the private sector to concentrate on building the necessary infrastructure for the concert economy," the Prime Minister added. PM Modi also pointed out that there are growing opportunities in areas such as event management, artist grooming, security and other related fields. Coldplay, the renowned British band, delighted fans with five performances in Mumbai and Ahmedabad while breaking records. On Monday, the band revealed on social media that their final performance in Ahmedabad on Sunday attracted a record 134,000 attendees, making it the largest ticketed concert in India, surpassing the previous record by over 60,000.

The band, led by Chris Martin, performed as part of their "Music of the Spheres" World Tour. They kicked off the series with three shows in Mumbai before concluding with two consecutive performances in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Prime Minister also highlighted the upcoming World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) to be held in India, underscoring its potential to boost India's creative presence globally and drive economic growth. "Next month, India will host the first-ever World Audio Visual Summit, or WAVES. This major event will showcase India's creative strength to the world. The revenue and perception built through such events in the states will also contribute to advancing the economy," PM Modi concluded.
