Bareilly (The Uttam Hindu):  A Pakistani woman, Shumaila Khan, managed to secure a government teaching job in Bareilly using forged documents. Khan worked as an assistant teacher at Madhopur Primary School for nine years, receiving a salary despite the fraudulent nature of her documents. The discovery has caused a stir in the Basic Education Department, leading to an FIR being filed against her. The incident took place in the Fatehganj Paschimi area, where Khan allegedly submitted fake certificates to secure her position in the Basic Education Department. Mukesh Chandra Mishra, the Additional Superintendent of Police (North), confirmed that the complaint was filed after the authenticity of her documents came into question.

Khan had provided a residence certificate from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Rampur during her appointment. However, an investigation by the SDM revealed that Khan’s parents are Pakistani nationals, and she had concealed these facts to obtain the job. The local intelligence unit (LIU) also confirmed that the residence certificate was fabricated.

As a result, the District Basic Education Officer suspended Khan on October 3, 2024, and her appointment was annulled. The Education Department had previously raised concerns about the authenticity of her documents, which were later confirmed to be fake. Following the suspension, Bhanu Shankar, the Block Education Officer of Fatehganj Paschimi, filed an FIR at the Fatehganj Paschimi police station against Khan, who now faces charges of fraud and document manipulation. This case highlights serious flaws in the verification process for government job appointments.
