India to Become World's Largest Muslim Population by 2050-Report

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): A report published by Pew Research Centre indicated that by 2050, India is likely to boast the highest Muslim population across the world. The new forecast anticipates a mid-century count of 311 million for Muslims in India-a segment representing 11% of all Muslims globally. Indicators currently placed at present times show that Indonesia houses the largest population of Muslims across the world.

In this report, it is predicted that India will be home to the largest Hindu population and expected to grow to 1.3 billion by the year 2050. With factors like young median ages and high fertility rates-the young median age being only 22 for Muslims; Hindus at 26 years old; and Christians at 28-it is seen as contributing to an increase in the religious populations.

The report highlights that the average number of children per woman for Muslim women in India is 3.2, while for Hindu women it is 2.5 and for Christian women it is 2.3. These demographic trends are likely to continue shaping the religious landscape of India in the decades ahead.

This shift reflects the dynamic nature of India's population and highlights growing religious diversity. These changes are likely to have significant social, political, and cultural implications as India moves toward 2050.
