Farmer leader Dallewal announces Mahapanchayat at Khanauri border on this date, lakhs expected to attend
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has announced a major Mahapanchayat to be held on January 4 at the Khanauri border, with expectations of participation from lakhs of people. He stated that during this Mahapanchayat, he would deliver an important message for the farmers from the stage. Dallewal also mentioned that the call for a Punjab bandh on December 30 has received widespread support.
Today, the Supreme Court heard a case related to the farmers' movement. However, the hearing could not be completed due to the ill health of the central government's lawyer. The court directed the central government to engage in dialogue with the farmers.
Dallewal accused the government of ignoring the farmers' demands and said that farmers are struggling to make their voices heard. Activist Sonam Wangchuk also visited the Khanauri border today and met with Dallewal. In a video message, Dallewal expressed his determination regarding his indefinite hunger strike, stating that he is steadfast in his demands. The ongoing farmers' movement has yet to see the fulfillment of their demands. The announcement of the Mahapanchayat indicates a possible intensification of the protest. It will be crucial to observe how the movement unfolds in the coming days.
