New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant move to bolster the country's democratic framework, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has written to all national and state political parties, soliciting their suggestions to enhance the electoral process. The commission aims to make the electoral process more robust, transparent, and fair, thereby strengthening Indian democracy. The ECI has invited the presidents and senior leaders of various political parties for discussions on electoral reforms. This dialogue is intended to further strengthen electoral processes within the existing legal framework. The commission seeks to ensure greater transparency and fairness in elections, enabling all citizens to experience a clean and fair electoral process.

The ECI's initiative is seen as a crucial step towards fostering trust between political parties and the general public. By encouraging open discussions and soliciting suggestions from all stakeholders, the commission aims to create a more inclusive and democratic electoral process. In its letter, the ECI has requested suggestions from political parties to address any unresolved electoral issues at the level of Electoral Registration Officers (ERO), District Election Officers (DEO), or Chief Electoral Officers (CEO). The commission has set a deadline of April 30 for receiving these suggestions. This move comes amid concerns raised by opposition parties regarding electoral process and voter list manipulation. The ECI's initiative is expected to help address these concerns and strengthen the country's democratic foundations.
