EAM Jaishankar to Represent India at Donald Trump's Swearing-In Ceremony on January 20: MEA
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday. During his visit to Washington, Jaishankar will also engage with representatives of the incoming Trump administration.
"At the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, EAM S. Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the inauguration of President-elect Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America," the MEA stated.
In addition to attending the ceremony, Jaishankar will meet with members of the new administration and other dignitaries who will be in the US for the event, according to the official statement. Previously, Jaishankar had visited the US from December 24 to 29 on an official trip. During that time, he met with Congressman Michael Waltz, the nominee for National Security Advisor in the incoming administration. This interaction marked the first high-level engagement between the Indian government and the Trump administration. Their discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the bilateral partnership between India and the United States, as well as various global issues.
