Dhananjay Munde Resigns Amid Allegations Against Close Aide in Santosh Deshmukh Murder Case
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Maharashtra government minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Dhananjay Munde has resigned from his post. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Munde's resignation was handed over to him in his personal office by PA Prashant Joshi. Fadnavis said, "Munde has sent me his resignation, which we have forwarded to the Governor."
Sources said Munde's close aide Valmik Karad has been named as an accused in the sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar met Fadnavis on Monday night and discussed the outcome of the CID chargesheet filed in the Deshmukh murder case and two other related cases in which Karad has been named accused number one, sources said.
Let us inform you that Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Masajog village in Beed, was kidnapped, tortured and killed on December 9 last year when he allegedly tried to stop an extortion attempt targeting a power company in the district.
Following the incident, the State Crime Investigation Department (CID) on February 27 filed a chargesheet of more than 1,200 pages in a court in Beed district in Deshmukh's murder and two related cases.
