Delhi Police Takes Action Against BJP Candidate Parvesh Verma, FIR Filed
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi Police has filed an FIR against BJP candidate Pravesh Verma for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct during the ongoing election campaign. The action was initiated based on a directive from the Election Commission. The Election Commission had written a letter to the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Temple Marg Police Station, instructing them to register a case against Verma.
The incident in question took place on January 12 in Delhi's Balmiki Colony, where Pravesh Verma was seen distributing shoes to women and urging them to wear them. Following the incident, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) demanded that the Election Commission take action against Verma, accusing him of deliberately violating the code of conduct. AAP has previously raised concerns about Verma’s actions, alleging that he distributed money, blankets, glasses, and organized job fairs to gain electoral advantage. The party has urged the Election Commission to investigate these allegations thoroughly.
