CRPF Commandant, 2 Jawans Injured in Maoist IED Blast, Airlifted to Ranchi
Chaibasa (The Uttam Hindu): In a brazen attack by Maoist insurgents, a CRPF Assistant Commandant and two jawans were injured in an IED blast in Chaibasa, West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. The incident occurred on the outskirts of the region, as the CRPF personnel were carrying out routine patrol duties in a Maoist-affected area. The blast, believed to have been triggered by the insurgents, occurred suddenly, injuring the three officers critically. The victims, identified as Assistant Commandant Rajesh Kumar and his two team members, were immediately evacuated from the site. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were airlifted to Ranchi, where they have been admitted to a top medical facility for urgent care. Sources confirm that the injured jawans are in stable condition, but their recovery will require extensive medical treatment.
The explosion has once again highlighted the volatile security situation in the region, where Maoist insurgents continue to pose a threat to law enforcement and civilians. Security forces have launched an operation to track down those responsible for the blast, with reinforcements being sent to the area. Local police are investigating the possibility of the IED being part of a larger plan to disrupt security operations in the region. The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from authorities, with several political leaders calling for stronger measures against the Maoist threat. This latest assault adds to a growing number of similar attacks in Jharkhand, where Maoist rebels have been actively targeting security personnel in recent years. Authorities have assured the public that the injured officers will receive all necessary medical attention and investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
