Criminal Arms Network Disrupted: Meerut STF Arrests Arms Dealer, Uncovers Smuggling Ring

Meerut (The Uttam Hindu): In Meerut, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) recently arrested Vinay Tyagi, a man involved in the illegal arms trade, and seized a substantial stock of firearms. Tyagi, hailing from Deoband in Saharanpur, was caught attempting to deliver firearms to criminal gangs operating in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Bihar. The operation led to the recovery of 17 firearms, including 10 country-made pistols, along with 700 cartridges.

Tyagi had reportedly acquired these weapons from an illegal supplier in Indore, intending to pass them on to Rakshit Tyagi, a person with connections to a notorious gangster family. Rakshit Tyagi, however, managed to evade arrest during the raid and is currently a fugitive being pursued by the authorities. The STF has confirmed that this operation is part of a larger initiative to dismantle arms trafficking networks, especially in anticipation of the upcoming panchayat elections.

This incident highlights the persistent problem of illegal arms trafficking in India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, where such activities are increasingly prevalent. The STF is continuing its investigation to uncover further details about the gang’s operations and the other individuals involved in the illegal arms trade.
