BSF Kills Pakistani Intruder Attempting to Cross Border in Amritsar: ₹270, Personal Belongings Found, Pakistan Doesn’t Request Body

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): The Border Security Force (BSF) shot and killed a Pakistani intruder attempting to cross the international border in Amritsar district, Punjab, on December 8, 2024. The incident occurred late at night when BSF personnel noticed suspicious movement near the border area close to the village of Mahawa. At around 9:15 PM, the intruder crossed the International Boundary and approached the border security fence.


Despite warnings from the BSF troops to stop, he continued to advance, prompting the security forces to open fire, resulting in his immediate neutralization Following the incident, a search of the area revealed a shoulder bag containing clothes and personal belongings, as well as ₹270 in Pakistani currency found on the deceased. The body of the intruder has been handed over to Gharinda police station for further investigation. Notably, Pakistan has not requested the return of the body.


The BSF reiterated its commitment to securing the border and preventing illegal crossings, emphasizing vigilance in these sensitive areas. This incident highlights ongoing security challenges along the India-Pakistan border.
