Breaking: Armed Attack on Villages in Manipur's Imphal East, CM N. Biren Singh Condemns Cowardly Assault

Imphal (The Uttam Hindu): In Manipur's Imphal East, armed assailants suddenly opened fire on villages, causing panic. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed outrage over the incident, condemning the indiscriminate firing by Kuki militants in the villages of Sansabi and Thamnaphokpi. Several civilians and security personnel have been injured in the attack. The Chief Minister described the shooting as a cowardly act against innocent people, emphasizing that such an attack, without any reason, is an assault on peace and harmony.

The Chief Minister assured that sufficient security personnel have been deployed in the affected areas and that the injured are receiving necessary aid. He called for peace and unity to face such challenges, highlighting the need for proper coordination between central forces and state police to handle such situations.

An official from Imphal East district informed the media that armed individuals had entered the villages of Sansabi and Thamnaphokpi, firing indiscriminately and bombing houses. Security forces responded swiftly, engaging in counteraction. As the situation unfolded, locals fled in panic to save their lives, creating chaos at the scene. While no fatalities have been reported, several individuals and security personnel have sustained injuries. The security forces managed to evacuate women and children to safety. The sounds of gunfire and explosions caused extreme fear among the children, who were seen crying loudly. They were promptly evacuated from the danger zone.
