Bihar Budget 2025: What's in Store for Biharis? Key Announcements and Takeaways

Bihar (The Uttam Hindu) : Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary presented the Bihar Budget 2025-26 in the state legislative assembly, proposing a budget of ₹3.17 lakh crore. This marks a significant increase of ₹38,000 crore from the previous year's budget.

Key Highlights of the Budget:

- Student Credit Card Scheme: ₹1000 crore allocated to provide financial assistance to students.

- Social Welfare Department: ₹13,368 crore allocated for various social welfare schemes.

- Energy Department: ₹13,484 crore allocated for energy development and infrastructure.

- Rural Roads: ₹15,000 crore allocated for rural road development.

- Health Department: ₹20,335 crore allocated for healthcare infrastructure and services.

- Education Department: ₹60,964 crore allocated for education development and infrastructure.

Other Key Announcements:

- The state government will construct Kanya Vivah Mandap to promote mass marriages.

- ₹17,000 crore allocated to the Home Department for various development projects.

- The government will purchase arhar and moong at Minimum Support Price (MSP) to support farmers.

- All bus stands in the state will be developed in a modern manner.

- A mobile gym will be launched in Patna for women.

- A vegetable production committee will be formed to promote vegetable production.

- Pink toilets will be constructed in cities for women.

- Government outlets will be opened on the lines of Sudha dairy.

The budget presentation was preceded by a protest by Mahagathbandhan leaders in the assembly premises.
