Haryana(The Uttam Hindu): Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala was cremated on Saturday with full state honours in his native Teja Khera village, Sirsa district. The 89-year-old political leader, who served as chief minister five times, passed away on Friday after collapsing at his Gurugram home. He is survived by two sons and three daughters. His wife, Sneh Lata, died over five years ago.

Chautala, the eldest son of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, was a key figure in Haryana politics and led the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD). His younger son, Abhay Singh Chautala, described him as a resilient leader who faced many challenges. "He saw many ups and downs, but never lost courage," Abhay said. He also highlighted his father’s significant contributions, including his role in Gurugram’s development. Abhay added, "Not only have I lost my father, but the farming community has lost a voice. We will continue to follow his footsteps."

Chautala’s legacy as a prominent political figure in Haryana remains influential, with many recognizing his lasting impact on the state’s development.
