Husband and wife burnt alive in house fire
3 children in critical condition from suffocation, elderly father injured while trying to extinguish flames.
Bahdaurgarh (The Uttam Hindu): A house fire in Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, Haryana, on Saturday (November 2) resulted in the tragic deaths of a husband and wife. The victims, identified as Sintu (25) and his wife Nisha (22), both from Nawada, Bihar, were burnt alive in the incident. Their three children, who were sleeping in another room, were affected by smoke inhalation and are reported to be in critical condition due to suffocation.
The fire broke out around 1 a.m. in Chhotu Ram Nagar. Sintu Kumar, who sold vegetables, lived with his wife, children, and elderly father, Pango Mahto, who stated that they had been renting the home for some time. The family had settled down for the night when suddenly, Sintu awoke to find smoke filling the room. He attempted to open the door but found it stuck, prompting him to escape to the roof and jump down, where neighbors assisted him. Upon returning inside, he discovered the room engulfed in flames. Despite his efforts to extinguish the fire, he sustained burns in the process, and both he and Nisha succumbed to their injuries.
Their three children, who were sleeping in a separate room, were also overcome by smoke and have been admitted to a private hospital in critical condition, currently receiving treatment in the ICU. Family members arrived at the scene shortly after being notified. The police have sent the bodies for postmortem and are investigating the cause of the fire, with the forensic team looking into whether it was accidental or the result of foul play.
