Haryana (The Uttam Hindu): In a move to improve basic facilities in government schools across Haryana, the state education department is working to address the shortage of desks in many schools. In several institutions, students had to study sitting on mats or the ground due to the lack of proper seating arrangements. To resolve this issue, the education department has initiated a plan to supply dual desks to these schools before the new academic session begins.

According to the latest updates, the Director of Secondary Education has sent a letter to all District Education Officers, instructing them to submit the demand for dual desks. The Directorate has provided a proforma that teachers must fill out with details about the schools, including the name of the school, block, the number of students enrolled from 9th to 12th grade, and the required number of dual desks. The information provided will be closely scrutinized, with a warning that any false details could result in action against the concerned school heads.

This initiative comes after a thorough four-day verification process conducted by the education department. District-level officials and Directorate representatives visited various schools to assess the available resources and facilities. The findings from these inspections will be sent to the Directorate by March 5. In the meantime, the department has requested the districts to report the need for dual desks, ensuring that the necessary furniture can be provided ahead of the upcoming academic session.

Although the verification process will continue until March 1, a technical team will inspect 10 percent of the schools based on the reports received from the districts. A final report will then be compiled and submitted to the Directorate by March 5. This step is part of the Haryana government's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education by ensuring that students have access to essential learning resources.
