Video: Famous Bollywood Actress Turns Sannyasi, Takes Oath with Kinnar Akhada
Prayagraj(The Uttam Hindu): Actress Mamta Kulkarni, who attended the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, has embraced a spiritual path by taking sannyas initiation. As part of the ceremony, she was given a new name. Following the initiation, Mamta Kulkarni donned saffron attire and performed pind daan at the Sangam banks, offering her respects personally.
Mamta Kulkarni will now be known as Yamai Mamta Nand Giri. She had arrived a day earlier at the Mahakumbh and performed a holy dip at the Sangam before undergoing the formal coronation ceremony. In a statement, Mamta explained her decision to become a Mahamandaleshwar, attributing it to a divine command from Goddess Kali.
Mamta revealed that she began her spiritual penance after the year 2000 and chose Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Dr. Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi as her spiritual guru. Reflecting on her journey, she shared that she was asked about her initiation to become a Mahamandaleshwar, which was affirmed by Mother Kali’s blessing on the day of Mahakali. She emphasized that Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi Ji, who embodies the form of Ardhanarishwar, anointed her as her guru. She described the honor of being anointed by such a revered figure as unparalleled.
Mamta also spoke about the rigorous tests she underwent to be granted the title of Mahamandaleshwar, stating that over the past 23 years, she had been questioned about her meditation and spiritual practices. She explained that she answered all the questions truthfully and, after passing these tests, was granted the title.
Regarding some saints expressing disapproval over her decision to take the Mahamandaleshwar initiation, Mamta acknowledged that many of her fans might be disappointed, as they may have hoped for her return to Bollywood. However, she clarified that she would not be returning to the film industry. “Nothing happens without the will of Mahakal and Mother Kali. No one’s will can prevail over theirs. They are the Supreme Brahman,” she asserted.
