Sonu Sood reveals he was offered Chief Minister's post, explains why he rejected it
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Sonu Sood reveals he was offered the Chief Minister's post but declined due to his fear of losing his freedom to help people. The actor, who became a national hero for his efforts to assist migrant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, recently shared the details in an interview with a popular media platform. When asked about his potential involvement in politics, Sonu Sood shared, "I was offered the Chief Minister's position. When I turned it down, they suggested I become the deputy CM.
These were influential figures in the country who also offered me a seat in the Rajya Sabha, telling me I wouldn't have to fight for anything in politics. It was an exciting phase when such powerful people encouraged me to make a difference." While discussing the public's desire for him to join politics, Sonu explained that he wants to remain outside it. He expressed his concerns about losing the freedom to help people without restrictions. "When you rise in life, the higher you go, the less oxygen there is. People enter politics for money and power, but I am not interested in either. If it's about helping people, I am already doing that," he said.
Sonu clarified that he doesn't oppose politics, mentioning that he has many friends in the political world who are doing great work. However, he added that while he might reconsider in the future, he isn't ready to join politics at the moment. Meanwhile, Sonu Sood is preparing for the release of his directorial debut, Fateh. The action thriller, which also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, Naseeruddin Shah, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, is set to release in theatres on January 10, 2025. The film will clash with Ram Charan and Kiara Advani's Game Changer, and its trailer has already generated significant excitement among fans.
