Salman Khan and Baba Siddique's son receive threats; Suspect arrested
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Zeeshan Siddique, the son of NCP leader Baba Siddique, and Bollywood actor Salman Khan received death threats following the recent murder of Baba Siddique in Mumbai, allegedly by members of the Bishnoi gang. A 20-year-old suspect was arrested today in Noida. The threats were made on the evening of October 25, prompting the police to file a case based on a complaint from Zeeshan Siddique's office. Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12 outside his office while celebrating Dusshera with firecrackers. The suspect, Mohammad Tayyab, also demanded ransom from both Zeeshan and Salman Khan.
Tayyab was apprehended on Tuesday morning in Sector 39 of Noida, and the Mumbai Police are set to bring him back to the city under a transit remand. On the same day the threats were received, Zeeshan Siddique formally joined the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction, nearly three months after being expelled from Congress for alleged cross-voting in the Maharashtra legislative council elections. He expressed that joining the party was an emotional decision and confirmed he would contest the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20 from the Bandra East constituency, a seat he previously won in 2019 as a Congress candidate.
Baba Siddique had served as the Congress MLA for the formerly undivided Bandra seat for two terms before resigning from Congress earlier this year to join the NCP. Authorities have arrested 15 individuals in connection with Baba Siddique's murder. A member of the Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the killing, stating it was due to Baba Siddique's close ties with Salman Khan.
