Saif Ali Khan case: Mumbai Police apprehend another suspect, Kareena Kapoor gives major statement
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): In the ongoing investigation into the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, significant updates have surfaced. The Mumbai Police have apprehended a suspect identified as Aakash Kailash Kannojia at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh. He was traveling on the Jnaneshwari Express when the police received a tip-off regarding his identity and whereabouts. A team from Mumbai is expected to take him into custody for further questioning.
The attack took place in the early hours of January 15, 2025 when an intruder broke into Khan's residence and stabbed him multiple times, possibly during a robbery attempt. Kareena Kapoor, Khan's wife has given a statement to the police describing the horrifying event. She mentioned that "Saif had intervened to protect their children, and while the attacker was aggressive, he did not steal anything"
CCTV footage showed the assailant entering and later fleeing through a fire-exit staircase. Despite extensive searches and the deployment of more than 30 police teams, the initial suspect had eluded capture until now. Reports suggest that the attacker had been spotted at various locations across Mumbai following the incident. Saif Ali Khan underwent surgery for his injuries and is recovering well with doctors indicating that he is likely to be discharged in two to three days. The investigation is ongoing and the police are working to determine whether Aakash is indeed connected to the attack.
