Hyderabad (The Uttam Hindu): A group of individuals, claiming to be associated with the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC), breached the security of Telugu actor Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, on Sunday. The protesters scaled the property’s boundary wall and threw tomatoes at the house. Once inside, they vandalized flower pots and damaged other plants, while chanting slogans demanding justice for a woman who tragically died in a stampede during a screening of Allu Arjun's latest film Pushpa-2 earlier this month. The situation escalated quickly, with law enforcement arriving on the scene to detain the protesters.

The Cause of the Protest

The incident traces back to December 4, when Allu Arjun attended the premiere of Pushpa-2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. A massive crowd gathered outside the theatre to see the actor, and things went awry when Arjun waved to his fans from the sunroof of his vehicle. The ensuing chaos led to the tragic death of Revathi, a woman caught in a stampede as the crowd surged forward. In the aftermath, Allu Arjun was briefly arrested, though he was granted bail the following day by the Telangana High Court after posting a Rs 50,000 bond.

Chief Minister’s Reaction

The incident also drew criticism from Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who questioned the actor’s decision to attend the event despite the police withholding permission for such visits. Revanth Reddy pointed out that videos circulating online showed Allu Arjun interacting with large crowds, which led to concerns about crowd control. The CM revealed that the theatre management had requested police security for the event, but the police had denied the request due to the challenges of managing the crowd at the venue, which had limited entry points. However, Allu Arjun responded to these criticisms in a press conference, denying any wrongdoing. He explained that the police had assisted in clearing the way for him, and emphasized that he did not conduct a roadshow, as some had claimed. The actor clarified that the crowd gathered several meters from the theatre, and he followed police guidance throughout.

Despite Allu Arjun’s defense, Chief Minister Reddy highlighted the actor’s actions of waving to fans, which drew massive crowds and led to a dangerous situation. According to Reddy, when the actor’s security personnel tried to control the crowd, it nearly caused a stampede.
