Malayalam actor Ajith Vijayan's passing leaves a void in the industry

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu):Malayalam actor Ajith Vijayan aged 57 passed away in Kochi leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances in both cinema and television. Known for his impactful roles in films like Oru Indian Pranayakatha, Amar Akbar Anthony Bangalore Days (Tamil) and Anju Sundarikal (Kullante Bharya) Ajith's career was marked by his versatile acting. He had a significant presence in the television industry as well earning recognition for his compelling performances across various popular serials. Ajith hailed from a family with deep roots in classical arts. He was the grandson of Kathakali maestro Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Mohiniyattam legend Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma. His parents the late C.K. Vijayan and Mohiniyattam guru Kala Vijayan as well as his uncle the late actor Kalashala Babu were also prominent figures in the arts and entertainment.

Ajith's most celebrated performance came through his portrayal of the character Ambiswamy in the anthology movie 5 Sundarikal. His role in the segment Kullante Bharya, directed by the visionary Amal Neerad, gained immense praise. The segment's Rear Window-style narrative followed a temporarily disabled photographer played by Dulquer Salmaan as he peered into the lives of others from his apartment window. The screenplay by Unni R. Renadive and stunning visuals captured by Jinu Ben and Reenu Mathews further elevated the emotional impact of the story while Gopi Sundar's music added depth to the experience. Ajith also made a mark in the Tamil film Bangalore Days where his portrayal of an astrologer gained significant attention and appreciation. Survived by his wife Dhanya and daughters Gayathri and Gauri Ajith Vijayan's untimely passing marks the end of a remarkable journey in the world of arts leaving behind a rich legacy in both the cinema and television industries.
